The Architect of Ruins

The Elves of Nantima were ready to defend Nantima against the Eladrin battleship Toivoa. However, the avatars did not wish for the elves to martyr themselves and got the elves of Nantima to storm the foothills and take care of the eladrin ground troops. From there the avatars were to collect the goliath at the southern edge of Nantima and use the catapults to launch themselves onto the Toivoa and perform a hostile takeover.

However, it seems imperial whitecloaks had been in Nantima waiting for a moment when the avatars would be isolated. Two assassins and a pack of blizzard motes attacked the party. Mesa was the primary target. Unfortunately, one got away and the whitecloaks hit the party hard enough where they could no longer attempt a takeover of the Toivoa. They gathered the Goliath as the Toivoa hurled exploding ice spheres into Nantima, freezing the limbs of the trees, causing them to break under the weight of the ice. The settlement was crushed.

The Southern Avatars

Four days prior to the fall of Nantima, five other avatars gathered for breakfast at Kalinda’s Inn and Tavern in the city of Arcturus, the capital of Ursa Major. They had been in the city for a week, recuperating from their previous journeys. Ruta Skadi had asked them to seek her when they were ready.

Their presence in the city has been noticed. Nobles and wealthy merchants have sent them gifts and invitations for meetings. One of these invitations comes from the King of Ursa Major.

Besides doing the obvious, visiting the king and Ruta Skadi, my character has an idea. You all know that Svendil was at one time slave to Formorians who were under the employ of winterkin Eladrin in the Feywild. When he escaped and returned home what do you think he found? You guessed it, the whole village decimated, littered with a few corpses, and those still alive carried off into the service of the Evil Empire (cue Imperial March). Svendil escaped to the Prime Material, and you know the rest. He had, of course, sworn vengeance on the graves of his kin, etc… His village was in the lands of the Summer Court, bordering the winterlands (if that’s possible). Strategically it would be a good place to start making trouble for the winterkin eladrin and trying to find allies against them in the Feywild. Just an idea.

I was looking at the Southerners’ skills, and while we’re blessed with an abundance of history knowledge (+22, +18, +15), endurance (+15, +13, +12), and athletics (+15, +14, +12), we’re a bit lacking in Diplomacy (+10 is our best) and Streetwise (+7—ugh!). We can do without these skills, but if one of you can switch from an abundance to a deficiency, it wouldn’t be a bad thing.

if i untrain history i still have a 17. I could train diplomacy or streetwise but i’m terrible at Cha Skills.

Also, there’s a small chance chronik can curry favor in the other courts, but we can hold off on making that happen.

You would have a +10 to streetwise or (effectively) have a +11 to diplomacy as long as you were within 10 of Avier. Diplomacy might be slightly worthwhile if we need to talk to the Eladrin Courts.

The location of the gnome village is perfect.

I’m moving away from a strict definition of time for short rests and time to cast rituals. Five and ten minutes are just top-end guidelines. Narratively, it makes sense that if nobody was bloodied it takes less time for the party to regain its energy than if it were beaten up badly. Lets also cut the component cost of using rituals in half. I actually like the idea of rituals, but they’re often prohibitive to use, so maybe this will get them used a little more.

There’s a bit of 4e game space that we don’t use and I want to use more of that space.

Do you guys have the ability to edit adventure log posts?

Nantima Falls

Yes. (I just played with some capitalization to see if I could.)

I finally put up Avier’s background, along with changing another 15 things about him.
