My parents told me that, the day I was born, people they had never met before pounded on the door to our house-den, and demanded to confirm a mark which exists on my hand.   Having seen the mark, they spoke in hushed tones, left a pair of gloves which they claimed would protect me, and exited the house-den.  Our tribal Moonspeaker confirmed that the gloves held a protective magic.

Growing up, I was instructed to wear the gloves at all times.  The gloves magically grew as I grew.  They helped to keep attention away from me, attention I did not want.  I learned to stay away from others in town, and hide my mark.  I passed myself off as human as best I could.

When I was fifteen, I was sent into the wild to complete my pashikarn, the part of my shaman training where I decide on a spirit to guide my path.  I had been following a bear in the woods when I came upon a strange tree.  The tree, a huge beech tree, appeared to be centuries old, even though the winds in the area kept most of the trees to a very short length and lifespan.  Into the tree was carved a symbol. When I touched the symbol, the ground underneath me opened up, and I was swallowed by Sola.  I fell into a large fast-flowing underground river, which sent me downstream for miles.  Had it not been for my karaih (Longtooth Shifting), I would not have survived the ordeal.  The river deposited me in front of an highly-detailed entryway carved into the stone wall.  I entered and wandered around blindly, until I collapsed from exhaustion.

Some time later, I awoke inside the underground temple in the presence of a large Naga.   The Naga introduced itself as Hua'janaisiba, and explained he was the guardian of a great secret contained within the temple.   When I asked why he helped to save my life, he said I had been deemed "special" and must be kept alive, but would not provide further information about why I was special, nor about the treasure he guarded.  Hua'janaisiba would not allow me to leave the temple  (he could not allow those who entered the inner sanctum of the temple to leave alive).   Thus I stayed within the temple for quite some time, while Hua'janaisiba provided instruction – training in the ways of guardianship, sacrifice, and protectorship.  He provided me an understanding of arcane knowledge, knowledge he said would help me to overcome "future trials".  I also learned quite a lot about athletics, as Hua'janaisiba taught me to embrace my shifter instincts in order to pass through certain traps in the temple. He also provided me a totem, largely consisting of Naga runes and graphics, which would help me to save the lives of those I guarded.

After some time, my guardian spirit had taken the form of a Naga. Hua'janaisiba claimed my guardian training almost complete – that I must go forth and begin to shape my destiny.   I asked him if he would allow me to leave, and he said, "I have come up with a way for you to go forth, so that you may claim the secrets within."  With that, he chanted something, my body froze, and all went dark.

It has been a year since I was killed by Hua'janaisiba the Naga.  My spirit somehow returned to the forest and found flesh again — the work of Hua'janaisiba, I presumed.  I had returned to Nibelheim, only to find that there were others who bore a mark nearly identical to my own.  Only though this seemed cross of fate's path did I allow these people past my reclusive shell. If they plan to go forth and save the land, and that will finally keep the attention of others off of me, then I will help them.

Last week, I noticed that my spirit companion had taken the spiritual form of Hua'janaisiba himself.  I wonder if this means  Hua'janaisiba has met his demise.  I feel I must return to the underground temple, and claim the secret guarded by Hua'janaisiba, if it is still there.
